I had yet another interesting conversation today with a caller of mine. He is what I consider a relatively new caller… just for about the last 9 months. I hear from him weekly and he is a super nice guy.
I did all the normal billing stuff to set up his call and when I got back to him “ready to go” he told me “you must be in a good mood today”.
I said, “you think so”?
He said, “Yes, but then you always sound like you are happy to hear from me”.
I said, “Well, I am silly”.
This prompted a discussion about phone sex operators. See, this is rather an easy business to get started or to get a job in, therefore it tends to be flooded with tons of girls. The problem with that is … that just like any other job, not everyone is actually cut out for it. My caller’s opinion was that only 10% of the phone sex operators are actually good at and enjoy what they do.
I said, “Really? Has that been your experience?”
He said, “Yes, that has been my experience, without exaggeration.”
WOW, wow, wow. I find this shocking. I told him that it was unfortunate for him to waste that much money to even come to this conclusion.
He said the money wasn’t the issue really. He just considers it a “throwaway” call too when he gets someone who has no real interest in him or his fantasies. However, I still think it’s a sad view of the phone sex industry.
I hear this stuff often from callers. It always stuns me. Maybe I am too normal. I just can’t understand any kind of business, or even doing any kind of job… and not wanting to do your best.
Of course, I have talked to callers that I didn’t “click” with. I have also talked to guys whose fantasy isn’t my personal taste, and I have spoken to clients whose fantasies I didn’t even understand. I either do my very best with those callers, or I tell them straight up… “look it’s not going to work with me, you’d be better off going somewhere else”.
Am I stupid for passing up the bucks? No, not in my opinion. My goal is to be sure I am spreading happiness in my life. Hey, if that includes a guy jerking off with a smile then I feel my work is worthwhile.
But sheesh, I am amazed that callers often feel that way after phone sex. You know, phone sex doesn’t have to be a shady deal or a skanky experience, and it doesn’t have to lack ethics or even morality.
I cannot fathom fully why many callers feel this way. I do think it’s a shame, though. No matter what you pay for, you should get your money’s worth. The business shouldn’t matter either, phone sex or a haircut…. You should be pleased with the end of both.
